Visit to Mimi and Poppie's

The sun was crazy bright in Z's face, but I kind of liked the composition of it. So I am putting it up anyway. :)

Slacker

So I am in some sort of funk. My pictures are getting very repetitive (seeing as how they are just of my kid) and I am obviously not making the time to try to get creative with it. That being said, I am going to ask you to excuse my lack of picture posting. I am still going to try and put pictures up a few times a week. I just don't think I am going to make my every day quota. At least not until I get out of my little funk.

So that's it for now.
Here is a picture to end the post!

Round Two

Here is my second shot at using the manual mode on my camera. I am not completely happy with it, but I think its an improvement from yesterday. One day I may figure this thing out. :)

Manual Mode

I have spent the last couple days learning about shutter speed, aperture, ISO and exposure. I have a lot more reading to do before I feel super confident, but I thought that I would try out some things I have learned. I spent a little while reading my camera manual and quickly familiarized myself with the few settings I had never used before.

That being said... I have had some time to think about my feelings toward the manual setting, and I have finally come to a decision: I would rather be poked in the eye with a fork rather than use the manual mode. I actually had to resist throwing my camera in front of a car this afternoon. I took 72 pictures in less than 20 min, and this is the best that I ended up with.

I don't know if its the rinky dink camera that I have, or the moving toddler, or the amount of sunlight outside, or my lack of experience with the settings... but I was not happy with the results. If I actually get the nerve to pick up my camera anytime soon, I am going to try to glue the knob to auto. *shudder*

Window Art

I am not a fan of the lighting on this one... but its basically the only one I took today. Oh well.
Zachariah has recently learned that he can "draw" on the condensation that covers the windows in the mornings. Its his new favorite. :)

For Tammi...

I know this isn't a fabulous picture, but I have absolutely no experience photographing animals. And I figured Zachariah needed a break from having the camera in his face, so I decided to photograph this thing. Canadian Geese give me the heebie jeebies. They could take out an eye if they felt like it.

Tree Peeker

Is the contrast to high in this picture? After debating back and forth yesterday while editing I thought it looked good. But then this morning I looked at it with fresh eyes and it just looks a bit off.

Is it just me? Do you see it too? I need feedback. :)

Playing With Daddy's Dreidel

Does anyone have any tips on how to get better pictures with indoor lighting? I can never seem to get anything decent unless I am right by a window.

Intro

I have created this blog in an attempt to improve my photography. I will try to post one picture every day (most will probably be of my son, but I may eventually branch out and photograph someone or something else). This will hopefully motivate me to learn more about my camera and editing pictures.

Keep in mind this is to encourage me to take more pictures and eventually be more creative with them. So bear with me through this process. My pictures will not look professional, and I am sure that some of them will look downright awful. I welcome advice, pointers and tips... because, well lets be honest. I need all the help I can get. :)
